DUBAI: DJ and fashion blogger Tala Samman dazzled onlookers at Saturday’s Dubai World Cup, wearing head-to-toe Topshop while she sat on the judging panel for the event’s best dressed competition, dubbed the Style Stakes.
The Chicago-born fashion star, who is originally Syrian, is a popular fashion and beauty blogger, with more than 120,000 followers on her Instagram account, @myfashdiary.
Samman, who regularly plays on the DJ circuit at fashion events and opening parties in Dubai, wore a sparkling silver mini-dress paired with lilac pompom sandals and chic aviators.
The influencer and DJ graduated from the London College of Fashion in Fashion Media and Communication studies and has since gone on to become a well-known name on the Middle East’s fashion scene. Her style blog, Myfashdiary.com, was one of the first beauty and lifestyle blogs to be launched in the UAE and has been a guide for all things food, fashion and fun-related since 2009.
Samman helped to judge the winners of the event’s style competition, choosing the best dressed man and woman, the best hat and the best dressed pair from a crowd of fashion-savvy hopefuls.
The best hat award went to Russian-born Oksana Belyeaeva who flew all the way from Australia especially for the races. Her intricate pink-and-gold hat was made of plastic and rubber.
Meanwhile, Nader Telab from Sudan won the coveted best dressed male prize for his dapper three-piece suit.
The white blazer, worthy of a washing up powder advert, was paired with white trousers and a blue waist coat. Telab added finishing flourishes with a peacock blue umbrella and hat.
