The CEO of the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) Mohamed Jameel Al-Ramahi will be presented with “The Gulf Intelligence International Energy Diplomacy Person of the Year Award 2019,” in London on Feb. 27. Previous recipients of the prestigious accolade, which takes place during the Energy Institute’s International Petroleum (IP) Week, have included the ministers of energy and industry of the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
“Al-Ramahi’s vision to spearhead the strategic development of Masdar into a leading global enterprise in renewable energy and clean technologies is a testament to his exemplary leadership in reducing the UAE’s greenhouse gas emissions as part of the Paris Agreement, and in support of delivering a low-carbon future,” said Louise Kingham OBE FEI, chief executive, Energy Institute.
“He has cemented the UAE’s commitment to maximizing the potential of renewable energy and propelled its importance in the region.”
Masdar, which is owned by the UAE Mubadala Investment Company, was ahead of its time when it was established in 2006; it has since cemented its position as a global leader in renewable energy and sustainable urban development.
“I am honored and humbled to join the select number of distinguished industry professionals who have received this prestigious award,” said Al-Ramahi. “I believe this honor recognizes the critical role renewable energy now plays in the overall energy mix and the potential of sustainable technology to safeguard the prosperity of future generations. It further reflects the outstanding performance of each and every employee of the company I am so proud to lead.”
