The Gulf Cooperation Council is a regional intergovernmental political and economic union consisting of all Arab states of the Persian Gulf - Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates - except for Iraq. The Charter of the GCC was signed on 25 May 1981, formally establishing the institution.
Islamabad enjoys close ties with all members of the GCC, especially with Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
A day earlier, on Monday, Pakistan’s central bank said remittances from Pakistani workers employed abroad exceeded $2.0 billion for the eighth straight month in January at $2.3 billion, up 19% from a year earlier, with the highest inflows from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
