RIYADH: Saudi Arabia announced 13 deaths from COVID-19 and 1,112 new infections on Sunday.
Of the new cases, 260 were recorded in Makkah, 209 in the Eastern Province, 196 in Asir, 193 in Riyadh, 51 in Madinah, 44 in Hail, 40 in Jazan, 37 in Al-Baha, 29 in Najran, 26 in Qassim, 17 in Tabuk, seven in the Northern Borders region, and three in Al-Jouf.
The total number of recoveries in the Kingdom increased to 482,414 after 1,189 more patients recovered from the virus.
A total of 7,976 people have succumbed to the virus in the Kingdom so far, while the total number of cases reached 501,195.
Over 19.6 million doses of a coronavirus vaccine have been administered in the Kingdom to date through 587 centers, and that the volume of demand for center will increase in the coming days, the health ministry said.

The ministry also said that it has started giving the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine to all age groups, after previously announcing that they had started to give it individuals aged 40 and over.
Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aly said during a daily press briefing that the Moderna vaccine, which was approved for use in the Kingdom on Friday, is safe and that it had undergone several researches by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority prior to its approval. He warned against any misleading rumors circulating about the vaccine.
Meanwhile, police in Madinah said they arrested 20 people for flouting quarantine rules after they tested positive for COVID-19.
Penalties for individuals who violate quarantine instructions include a fine of up to SR200,000 ($53,332) and/or up to two years imprisonment, and penalties are doubled for repeat offenders. If the violation was committed by an expat, they face deportation from the Kingdom and are permanently banned from reentry.
The Ministry of Interior said it recorded 20,197 violations against COVID-19 preventative measures during inspection tours from July 4 to 10 across the Kingdom, with the highest reported in the capital, Riyadh, with 6,435, followed by the Eastern Province with 2,935, and Makkah with 2,205.
