ISLAMABAD: The suspension of passenger flights from South Asia, including Pakistan, may be extended beyond their expected resumption on Aug. 7, UAE national flag carrier Etihad Airways said on Sunday.
The Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways announced last month that flights from the four countries would remain suspended until Aug. 7.
On Sunday, while it confirmed the Aug. 7 date, Etihad said in a statement to the UAE media that it could be extended as the situation was "evolving."
"Following the latest UAE Government directives, passenger travel from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to the UAE and Etihad's network has been suspended until August 7, 2021. Please note this is an evolving situation, and this date may have to be extended in line with government mandates," the carrier said.
Passengers from the four countries which are grappling with coronavirus outbreaks remain barred from entering the UAE, with the exception of UAE nationals, diplomats, official delegations, Golden Visa holders and Expo 2020 Dubai participants who may enter but have to comply with the Gulf state's quarantine guidelines.
