ISLAMABAD: Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, the Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, met Pakistani ambassador to the UAE Afzaal Mahmood on Monday and discussed prospects of boosting cooperation between businesses in Abu Dhabi and Pakistan, UAE state news agency WAM said.
Pakistan and the UAE have long had close relations. Over 1.6 million Pakistani expats live in the UAE and remit over $4 billion annually.
UAE is also Pakistan’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and a major source of investment.
“Al Mheiri highlighted the strong economic and trade relations between the UAE and Pakistan, noting that figures of trade exchange between the two countries reflect their deep-rooted relationship,” WAM said. “Al Mheiri also underscored the complete readiness of the Abu Dhabi Chamber to offer all the services required to help Pakistani businesses and entrepreneurs explore the excellent investment opportunities in Abu Dhabi.”
Mahmood praised the role of the Abu Dhabi Chamber in strengthening trade relations between businesses in Abu Dhabi and Pakistan, and reiterated the importance of boosting economic cooperation between the two nations’ business communities.
He also highlighted several initiatives announced by the Pakistan government to attract foreign investors.
