Riad Hamade is the director of Asharq Business with Bloomberg, an Arabic-language business news service that is part of Asharq News.

Launched in February 2020, Asharq Business with Bloomberg was born out of a cooperation between Asharq News, which is affiliated with the Saudi Research and Media Group, and Bloomberg Media. 

Hamade was born in Reutlingen, Germany, and grew up in Beirut, Lebanon, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics from the American University of Beirut. He also earned a master’s in economic history from the London School of Economics.

Hamade started his journalistic career at the world’s biggest financial news organization in 2001 as an editor covering European economics in Frankfurt. Before joining Bloomberg, Hamade was an editor for Bridge News in Frankfurt and the BBC’s Monitoring Service in Britain. 

In 2021, he joined Asharq after spending 20 years at Bloomberg News.
