AL-HASA, 4 June — Hasa International Indian School (HIIS), Al-Hasa, Hofuf, celebrated its second annual day recently. More than 140 students, parents and families were present. Students guided by their teachers and parents presented a variety of programs that evoked academic interest. The audience watched with rapt attention as students gave literary presentations, opana (a folk presentation from Kerala), qawali, dances, music and skits. The program began with a welcome dance presented by students trained by teacher Shabana Jamal. Students also presented solo and group dances, which were choreographed by Girija Menon. Students also displayed their sense of humor through comic skits like “The forgetful servant” and “Tehelka Rat Com.” Chief guest Muhammad Anwar, principal of the Dammam Indian school, inaugurated the celebrations. P.G.S. Menon, administration manager at HIIS, who presided, called for a distance education program to meet today’s trends. P. Abdul Rahim presented the annual report. M.C. Sebastian, principal of Al-Yasmin International Indian School, and Mazar Yaqub, principal Jubail Indian school, and Faisal and Muhammad Al Naim of Al-Mousa Group also spoke. Ramdas Vallathol, marketing manager, NADA Dairy, gave away the prizes.
