BALI: Saudi Arabia’s Education Minister Hamad Al-Sheikh met with Second Minister of Education in Singapore Mohammed Maliki bin Osman in Bali.
The meeting was part of a visit by a Saudi delegation to Indonesia to participate in the G20 meeting of education ministers.
During the meeting, the two parties reviewed the prospects of enhancing cooperation in scientific research and public, university and digital education.
They discussed Saudi Arabia’s strong digital infrastructure, which accelerated the process of digital transformation, as well as the exchange of expertise and practices in the field of distance and blended learning.
Earlier, the Saudi minister met Indonesian Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim and UNESCO Assistant Director General for Education Stefania Giannini.
Al-Sheikh and Makarim discussed ways of building a solid and comprehensive partnership to benefit from the development plans and programs implemented by educational institutions in the two countries.
The ministers also discussed enhancing cooperation in higher education, scientific research and innovation, and student scholarships and grants.
Al-Sheikh and Giannini discussed strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom and UNESCO in education, future prospects of international cooperation and exchange of expertise, improving educational systems and developing scientific research.
During the meeting of G20 education ministers on Friday, Al-Sheikh praised Saudi Arabia’s efforts to reform its education system to ensure that students are prepared for future jobs.
Recent reforms in Saudi Arabia’s educational system are helping the Kingdom produce highly skilled youth who are ready to meet the demands of the future labor market, Al-Sheikh said.
These reforms include expanding equitable access to high-quality early childhood education, the minister said.
