ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) franchises will take part in the replacement and supplementary draft on Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed this week, with less than a month left before the ninth edition of the country’s premium cricket league gets underway.
The PSL is Pakistan’s professional T20 men’s cricket league which was established in 2015 by the PCB. The league has won praise from sports fans throughout eight editions and is regarded as one of the most entertaining T20 cricket leagues around the world.
The PSL’s replacement and supplementary draft is an important event that sees franchises name replacements for players who are partially or fully unavailable for the tournament. The draft will be held online, the PCB confirmed.
“The six HBL Pakistan Super League franchises will take part in the supplementary and replacement draft, set to be held on Monday, 29 January,” the PCB said in a statement on Friday.
It will see franchises name two players each from the Gold, Silver, Diamond, and Platinum categories, and one from the Supplementary category, the board said.
The PCB said that in the supplementary draft, each franchise will be allowed to add players to their squads in the third and fourth supplementary pick rounds.
The PSL’s ninth edition will be held from Feb. 17 to March 18 across Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi. Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium will host the first match of the tournament while the final will be played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
