Tamees 09, a restaurant with two locations in Jeddah and one in Riyadh, is known for its range of breakfast dishes.
The restaurant offers authentic Hijazi breakfast items, as well as modern takes on well-known recipes.
Arab News was served eggplant fatteh, a famed Middle Eastern dish that combines crispy bread with tender eggplant, covered in a tangy yogurt and garlic sauce, and sprinkled with pine nuts and parsley. The dish can serve as a main course or side dish, particularly during Ramadan and Levantine celebrations.
Next was the shakshuka 09, Tamees 09’s take on the beloved dish of fried eggs with diced tomato, chilis, cream cheese and spices.
No Hijazi breakfast is complete without a liver dish, and Tamees 09’s version, cooked with tomato sauce, onions and special spices, did not disappoint. It offered a savory balance to the sweet and tangy flavors of the first two dishes.
Karak tea was served to accompany the meal. For dessert, Tamees 09 offers the crispy banana, a modern take on Yemen’s traditional masoub, a banana-based pudding.
The crispy banana is topped with caramel sauce and ice cream.
Tamees 09’s three branches feature comforting Hijazi-inspired decor and cozy wooden and leather furniture.
The restaurant also offers lunch and dinner menus.
