RIYADH: Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met Yemen’s Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak in Jeddah on Thursday, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Prince Khalid conveyed the greetings of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and their wishes of stability and prosperity to the people of Yemen.
The meeting focused on the latest developments in Yemeni affairs, as well as efforts to implement the UN road map to peace in the country.
UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg said in December that this plan included Yemeni parties’ commitment to enforcing a nationwide ceasefire; the paying of all public sector salaries; the resumption of oil exports; opening roads in Taiz and other parts of Yemen; and further easing of restrictions at Sanaa Airport and Hodeidah port.
Officials also discussed the ongoing efforts to support Yemen’s political process.
Prince Khalid reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni government and people in a way that contributed to the country’s development and prosperity.
