RIYADH – The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the formation of a new Syrian government and hopes it will fulfill the aspirations of its people, reported the Saudi Press Agency on Sunday.
A statement emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to cooperating with the new government, strengthening ties between the two nations and enhancing relations across all sectors.
The ministry also extended its best wishes to the new authority in achieving security, stability and prosperity.
Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa announced a transitional government on Saturday, appointing 23 ministers in a broadened cabinet. The move is seen as a key milestone in the transition from decades of Assad family rule and to improving Syria’s ties with the West.
The UAE and Jordan also welcomed the formation of the new Syrian government, with both countries reaffirming their support for the Syrian people's aspirations for stability, security, and prosperity.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed confidence that the new government would meet the requirements of the transitional phase and extended its best wishes for success, the Emirates News Agency reported.
The UAE also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties across various sectors for the benefit of both nations.
Similarly, Jordan's Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs expressed hope that the new government would fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, equality, and peace, the Jordan News Agency reported.
Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufian Qudah emphasized Jordan’s dedication to deepening cooperation with Syria, highlighting the historical and strategic ties between the two countries.
Qudah also underscored the importance of building relations based on mutual respect and trust while addressing key issues in a way that serves both nations.
He reiterated Jordan's steadfast commitment to supporting Syria’s reconstruction efforts to ensure its stability, security, and unity.
