Jameel Motors brings Changan to South Africa

Jameel Motors, a provider of mobility solutions and partner of choice to top automotive brands, and Changan Automobile, have signed an agreement to distribute sports utility vehicles, sedans, pickups, and new energy vehicles in South Africa.

This marks a new market entry for Jameel Motors. The South African market represents a significant long-term investment opportunity, given that it is the largest automotive market in Africa, with new vehicle sales totaling more than 500,000 in 2024, as well as the growing demand for affordable vehicles with the latest technology. In January 2025, the new passenger car market saw an increase of 18.3 percent cars sold year on year. Jameel Motors’ commitment includes creating jobs and developing local dealerships, contributing to the economic growth of the country.

Jameel Motors will initially focus on the distribution of Changan and Deepal products. Changan offers sedans, SUVs and pickup combustion engine vehicles, while Deepal focuses on NEVs. Both Deepal and Changan vehicles are ideal for South Africa’s diverse terrain and road conditions. Building on its strong track record, Jameel Motors is well positioned to meet local customer preferences. Vehicles will be available for purchase in Q4 2025.

Jameel Motors in South Africa will be headed by Marinus Venter, an accomplished professional with 18 years of experience leading automotive brands. Having been at the forefront of introducing new and innovative vehicle models to the market for the likes of Nissan and Mercedes-Benz Vans, Venter brings with him extensive expertise in after-sales, marketing, business planning, product management, customer service, and parts.

‘Machines Can See Summit’ to explore future of AI

In its third edition, the Machines Can See Summit — recognized as the largest computer vision event and a leading AI gathering in the Gulf region — has garnered support from several prominent organizations, including Digital Dubai, Yango Group (known for its Arabic voice assistant and delivery robots), Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Mastercard, and Adia Lab. 
Organized by Polynome Events, the summit will take place on April 23-24, offering a unique platform for thought leaders and innovators to explore and discuss groundbreaking advancements in AI and computer vision.
The Machines Can See summit is part of the inaugural Dubai AI Week, organized by the Dubai Center for Artificial Intelligence to explore the future impact of AI across sectors. Held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, crown prince of Dubai, deputy prime minister and minister of defense of the UAE, and chairman of the Dubai Future Foundation, the week brings together global experts, innovators, and policymakers.

The Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors, led by its CEO and board member Abdullah Saleh Al-Shebeili, participated in the sixth round of the “From Riyadh to the World” initiative, held on the sidelines of the National Internal Audit Conference in Melbourne, Australia. The participation continues the institute’s efforts to showcase the Kingdom’s most successful professional expertise in the oversight sector in general, and internal auditing in particular.
The event brought together the executive leadership of the Institute of Internal Auditors in Australia, senior executives, and professionals from major Australian government agencies and companies.

During Ramadan, Jahez launched the “Jahazeyat Menu,” a special sharing box priced at 2.95 Kuwaiti dinars ($10). It included stuffed grape leaves, chocolate fudge, mahalabia, and a festive Gargee’an gift box. Customers could easily find it on the Jahez app under its own listing.

The company introduced a TV series called “Qafsha Show” for its partners. The series aired on KTV and online platforms and featured a different Jahez partner daily. Through the show, guests highlighted their Jahez-affiliated restaurants and the stories behind them, offering viewers a closer look at the people and passion driving local businesses.

Additionally, Jahez introduced its exclusive collaboration between doh! and Chef Sawsan Matbakhi, which introduced a new special menu item.

Jahez also distributed more than 4,000 iftar meals. The initiative was launched in collaboration with Zajel Kuwait, a local nonprofit organization. Additionally, the company participated in the “Longest Iftar Table” initiative, a renowned event held at Souq Sharq where people gather to break their fast.

Moreover, Jahez initiated strategic partnerships with four local charities, namely Direct Aid Charity, Balad Alkhair Society, Al-Waqf Al-Ensani Society, and Alnajat Charity.
