Words cannot express the loss of King Fahd, who was leader of our nation and the caretaker of our development for more than two decades. Saudi Arabia experienced many challenges from regional wars between neighboring countries and difficult political situations the area faced due to the Arab-Israeli conflict, Afghanistan occupation, Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Despite all that, the wisdom of the great leader managed to keep the country safe and away from international conflicts and wars. King Fahd laid down policies that helped to advance the Kingdom, including the main ruling system, Shoura Council system, Ministry Council system and the regional system.
They aimed to strengthen civil institutions, stabilize world oil prices so as not to adversely affect consumers and economies worldwide and to strengthen the Kingdom’s leadership in OPEC.
King Fahd was a uniting force among the Arab peoples. His effort to support the Palestinian cause made the issue one of the country’s main political concerns, and he worked on finding a solution for it. The Kingdom became an influential political power globally and solidified the nation’s position in the Islamic and Arab world. King Fahd gave aid to Muslims all over the world, and he helped make the Gulf Cooperation Council an example for the world to respect.
He conducted the biggest expansion in the history of the Two Holy Mosques to better accommodate visiting pilgrims from around the world.
Nationally, King Fahd succeeded in making the Saudi economy one the world’s strongest and one of its biggest producers of oil and petrochemical materials.
King Fahd laid down successful economic policies in addition to oil policies, and he encouraged the economic sector to take a more active role in the country’s development.
He managed to bring the private sector and the government together and played an important role in administrational reform. He helped stabilize Saudi currency despite many economic challenges, and he increased the number of colleges, institutions and universities. God bless King Fahd and protect the country and the new King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan.
