With its new CELSIUS M440 workstation, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is launching a mid-range model which combines the latest chip technology with significantly improved ergonomic features and the leading European IT manufacturer’s ‘Green’ technology. The new chassis design of the single-processor CELSIUS M440 workstation reduces operating noise by nearly 50 percent to only 25 dB. Surveys carried out by Fujitsu Siemens Computers revealed that having a quieter workstation is a top customer priority.

The company also focused on improving performance while still being environmentally responsible. The CELSIUS M440 workstation uses the new Intel i955X chipset which allows the extension of storage capacity beyond the traditional 4 GB threshold. When used with Extended Memory 64 Technology, the CELSIUS M440 is the first single-processor workstation to offer genuine 64-bit support. Based on Fujitsu Siemens Computers ‘Green’ technology, the lead content in the mainboards has been reduced from 12 grams to 1 gram. The printed circuit boards are halogen-free and the housing contains no environmentally damaging flame retardants.
