SHARJAH, 3 July 2006 — A huge fire broke out yesterday causing huge losses at the Sleep Easy mattress factory in the 10th Industrial Area of Sharjah.

Civil Defense teams from Sharjah and Dubai rushed to the site as soon as the alarm was raised at 11.40 a.m. yesterday. About 150 workers who were at the factory at the time managed to escape unharmed, but lost their belongings as the fire raged on.

Fire fighters battled the blaze for five hours and brought it under control. They managed to prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings.
