AL-LAITH, 4 July 2006 — A muezzin, a mosque prayer caller, at the King Fahd Mosque here was stabbed by a young man just as he had finished giving the early Sunday morning adhan or call to prayer, the daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday. The muezzin was taken to a nearby hospital and received five stitches for his eight-centimeter head wound. Witnesses said that the attacker, who has not been found, was mentally ill. The motive of the attack is under investigation.
