ISLAMABAD, 12 July 2006 — President Gen. Pervez Musharraf conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz (military) on Lt. Gen. Prince Abdul Rahman ibn Fahd Al-Faisal, commander of the Royal Saudi Air Force, and Nishan-e-Quaid-e-Azam on Maj. Gen. Sheikh Mohammad ibn Isa ibn Salman Al-Khalifa, commander of the National Guards of Bahrain at an investiture ceremony in Rawalpindi yesterday.

Both the commanders earlier held separate meetings with President Gen. Pervez Musharraf.

Lt. Gen. Prince Abdul Rahman was awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz for his professional achievements and endeavors to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the air forces of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Maj. Gen. Sheikh Mohammad played a pivotal role in forging fraternal and meaningful relations between Pakistan and Bahrain, the citation read out before the award of medals said.

Speaking on the occasion President Musharraf recalled Pakistan’s extremely close and fraternal relations with the two countries and lauded the services of the two men in giving a meaningful and purposeful orientation to the existing bonds of friendship. Both the commanders thanked the president for the prestigious awards they received.
