ABHA, 18 November 2006 — Saudi actor Fahd Al-Hayyan has been encouraged by the popularity of the first Saudi film “Kaif Al-Hal” (“How Are You”) to produce his own feature films.

“Saudis are very enthusiastic to watch films produced in their own country,” he told the daily Al-Watan in an interview published yesterday.

“In fact the Saudis account for a considerable number of viewers at cinemas across the Gulf and other Arab countries. Since ‘Kaif Al-Hal’ made a remarkable debut, I believe that new films will also be equally successful.”

Al-Hayyan also said that his film “Ghashamsham,” which was released during Ramadan, will be rebroadcast; several television companies have shown great interest in it.
