ABHA, 27 April 2007 — An interview that took place this week with one of Osama Bin Laden’s former bodyguards will air on the Al-Arabiya satellite network soon, the daily Al-Watan reported yesterday.
Abu Jandal, a Yemeni national who was born and raised in Jeddah, sat down with presenter Turki Al-Dokhayyel to discuss his past with the world’s most wanted criminal and murderer.
Jandal describes traveling to various countries as part of Bin Laden’s entourage between 1996 and 2000. Yemeni authorities eventually arrested him when he returned from Afghanistan. After “some time” in custody, authorities eventually freed Abu Jandal.
During the interview Abu Jandal referred to his relations with Abdul Aziz Al-Muqrin, former commander of Al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia, who was killed in an encounter with Saudi security forces in 2004. Abu Jandal said he knew Al-Muqrin from Afghanistan, Bosnia, Somalia and Kenya. Today Abu Jandal is a cab driver in Sana’a.
