The event, which required two months' preparation, included lectures, presentations and handmade crafts to honor the Prophet (peace be upon him) and to drive home his quality of forgiveness. The event has been held for three years and the school was selected by the supervising education department to host it this year.
School principal Nour Ganzala said students at her school were mainly non-Saudis because the neighborhood has a high number of expatriate residents. The handwork and paintings  were made by students with the aid of their teachers.
The students coming from outside the school are also helped in workshops to produce their own products that mark the theme of the event, which is the love of the Prophet (pbuh). There were also presentations in English, the principal said.
Asked about the absence of the media and whether the seminar would receive more attention if it were held outside the school, she said, “Such educational events will not succeed unless they are carried out in schools because schools will always compete to host these grand events.
Add to that, the school atmosphere helps students of different schools to interact.”
Ganzala said private schools participated in the event but they were promoting their names.
Ganzala criticized the lack of media coverage and the absence of reporters who only go to schools if there is a problem. “We have talented students who undertake creative projects and make products but no one in the media highlights them. Some reporters even ask for something in return for having covered a school event.”
Ganzala denied teachers are overburdened because of these events and said they scheduled the events and divided the workload among teachers and students so as not to have a negative impact on the learning process.
