Christian Noyer says the resilience of France’s banks has been proven throughout the financial crisis.
Four French banks — BNP Paribas, Societe Generale, Groupe Credit Agricole et Groupe BPCE — were evaluated in the European Banking Authority’s stress test. All four passed, according to results released Friday.
“Their level of capital is appropriate in the end because it allows them to finance the economy even under the worst case scenario,” Noyer was quoted as saying in a Banque de France statement Friday.
