“With the introduction of this new model, the Maserati has taken the GranCabrio convertible to a new level of performance,” said Fast Auto Technic Managing Director Khaled El-Abed.
The GranCabrio Sport combines an upgraded 4.7 liter V8 engine with a 10 horsepower increase to 450 hp and a faster MC Auto Shift transmission that allows more fuel economy.
The engine is also rich with torque, with a peak of 510Nm (20Nm more than the GranCabrio) arriving at 4750rp m.
The new model boasts a higher performance capability thanks to a 285km-h top speed, a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 5.2 seconds, an easier gear-shifting system, a super-fast MC Auto Shift mode developed from the transmission in the Quattroporte Sport GT S, an upgraded Skyhook active-suspension system and a more-responsive brake package for a greater speed.
According to El-Abed, the car’s enhanced speed, quality and road-holding combined to its more sportive, dynamic and aggressive look will be able to attract a wider and younger customer base.
The pronounced dynamic shape is conveyed to the GranCabrio through perfectly integrated changes throughout the body and the interior of the car.
Italian Consul General Simone Petroni was highly fascinated by the new model also offered in a classic red (Rosso Trionfale) that pays tribute to the Maserati racing cars of the 1950s.
“Although displaying a strong and innovative personality, the new GranCabrio Sport maintains the distinctive elegance that characterizes Maserati’s prestigious brand,” said Petroni, who was the guest at the event.
The GranCabrio Sport was displayed alongside the latest versions of the GranTurismo S and the Quattroporte Sport GT S.
