Speaking to reporters after inspecting the designs and models of five new hospitals and medical centers in Riyadh, Jeddah, Taif and Qassim, the prince said the new facilities would contribute to improving health services in the country. The five projects include a specialized maternity and children’s hospital in Riyadh with 300 beds, a 176-bed medical and surgical center in Jeddah, the King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children in Jeddah with 350 beds, a 300-bed specialist hospital in Taif and a 300-bed specialist hospital in Qassim.
Prince Miteb thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for his continuous care for National Guard staff and approving five hospitals to extend advanced health care to its officers and their families.
“The new projects were planned after conducting necessary studies to meet the present and future requirements of National Guard officers,” the commander said, adding that tenders would be invited from specialized companies to implement the projects.
NG's new health projects include the King Saud University of Health Sciences and King Abdullah International Center for Medical Research. Prince Miteb recently toured the new university campus including the colleges of medicine, dentistry, pharmacology, applied medical sciences, nursing and general health.
“The King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children is first of its kind in the Kingdom,” said Dr. Bandar Al-Knawy, CEO of National Guard health affairs, adding that it would be linked to King Abdul Aziz Medical City with an air-conditioned bridge.
