The hospital, claimed to be the largest private hospital in the Middle East and North Africa region, covers more than 100,000 square meters.
The group aims to provide unmatched treatment led by prominent medical experts, exceptionally qualified to run this giant prestigious facility according to the latest global standards.
After the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed and his entourage made an inspection tour of the health facility, which was completed at a total cost of AED400 million.
At the end of his tour, Sheikh Mohammed affirmed that he is personally following up progress in the health and educational sectors.
He welcomed local, Arab and foreign investors to the health sector as a key provider of health care to local and regional patients without taking the pain of traveling abroad for treatment. Health tourism in the UAE, he said, is the focus of his attention and of his government as well as national relevant entities.
Sobhi Batterjee, chairman and CEO of Saudi German Hospitals Group, said in his presentation that the first SGH hospital started operations in 1988 in Jeddah, thus bringing contemporary German health care standards to the doorstep of the local community.
After establishing a strong reputation for its quality of care and scientific management, SGH expanded to other areas of Saudi Arabia and beyond.
The launch of this new facility further epitomizes the philosophy of the SGH group to establish 30 new health care facilities and create over 50,000 jobs by 2015.
The group also strives to complete its 23-year practice process by instituting five medical colleges by 2020.
He paid tribute to Sheikh Mohammed for giving instructions to Dubai authorities to facilitate construction of the state-of-the-art health facility in Dubai.
“We have chosen Dubai as the destination of choice for our new hospital venture because of its phenomenal achievements in the medical industry and also its impeccable reputation as a prestigious hub attracting some of the world’s best talents,” Batterjee added.
“We at the Saudi German Hospital are working to make this operation the showcase of the group in the UAE. I can confidently say that this hospital will be a dominant player in the private health care industry of the region and attract patients from across the Middle East, Africa and Asia,” he said.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Aviation Authority and chairman of Emirates Group, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Gargawi, minister for Cabinet affairs, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, acting minister of health, and a number of top health officials.
