A healthy lifestyle campaign kicked off at Batterjee Medical College (BMC) for Sciences and Technology with an educational lecture, workshop and fun activities aimed at more than 3,000 students and staff of the college.
Posters and merchandise promoting healthy lifestyles had been put up around the BMC campus as part of the buildup of this campaign run by BMC Lifestyle Group. This campaign is organized by the foundation year of Batterjee Medical College for Sciences and Technology students.
"The BMC lifestyle campaign aims to change unhealthy lifestyle by encouraging the public, especially youth, to lead a healthy lifestyle through preventive healthcare, adequate vitamin and mineral intake, proper weight control, regular exercise and most importantly, a healthy mind," said BMC Dean Dr. Khalid Batterjee.
He added, "Our mission is to empower our college's community with the nutrition information necessary to achieve a long-term healthy lifestyle".
The educational lecture on the launching ceremony explained how the issue of obesity and lifestyle-related ailments had become a major concern in our society today.
Moreover, it informed that weight control was all about making small changes that you can live with forever. The subsequent sessions also informed the community about healthy food inside the college. The proceedings of the day finally signed off with special prizes in form of free memberships for Gold’s Gym and certificates for the participants.
The next stop for this campaign will be outside the college at Max Diner, where Dr. Rowaidah Idriss, a renowned lifestyle nutritionist, will be talking about the conflict between medicine and food. This lecture will educate the college students about the type of food they have to eat for each type of medicine they are taking while sustaining the good effect of the medicine.
