Sultan bin Hamid Al-Zaidi has been the mayor of Alkhobar governorate since March 2017.
Al-Zaidi received his early education in his hometown Taif. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the Umm Al-Qura University.
After graduation, he briefly worked with the Makkah Region Development Authority and led a specialized working group. He also worked with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
Al-Zaidi worked as a real estate consultant for six years.
Later, he joined the Eastern Province municipality in Dammam. The municipalities of Alkhobar, Abqaiq, Ain Dar, Qatif, Nuairiyah and Al-Khafji come under the purview of the Eastern Province municipality.
Al-Zaidi was tasked to find solutions to expedite work on different uplift projects in the region. He was then appointed the director of the technical affairs department.
Based on his performance, he was tasked with the responsibility of overseeing several development projects in Abqaiq, Qatif, Nuairiyah and Al-Khafji.
In November 2011, Al-Zaidi was appointed as chief of the Ain Dar municipality. In addition to his duties, he was also assigned in June 2012 to head the municipality of Abqaiq.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), all municipalities in the Kingdom are working diligently to implement precautions for the safety of citizens and residents. In addition to that Al-Zaidi and his team recently launched an initiative to feed stray cats. Everyone has applauded the unique initiative “Food of Mercy.”
Al-Zaidi has attended many training courses within the Kingdom and abroad.
