ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s top diplomat in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday testified to a substantial rise of 40 percent in the export of food items from his country to the Gulf state, as he inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion in Dubai at the outset of the five-day Gulfood Exhibition.
The event is one of the world’s largest annual food and beverage trade exhibitions, bringing together industry leaders from around the world who highlight their products and networks while exploring business opportunities.
The event typically features exhibitors from various sectors of the food and beverage industry, including manufacturers, producers, distributors and suppliers. Gulfood attracts thousands of visitors and exhibitors from across the globe, making it a significant event for the industry.
Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s envoy to the UAE, inaugurated his country’s pavilion at the World Trade Center in Dubai, calling it a proud moment for participants from his country who had brought new food products to the massive food exhibition.
“About 100 Pakistani enterprises related to food industry are participating in the Gulfood this year,” he informed while speaking at the occasion. “It is extremely encouraging that exports of Pakistani food related items to the region have increased by 40 percent in just one year time, especially rice and meat have witnessed a sharp increase.”
The ambassador appreciated the fact that Pakistani dairy products had also found a lucrative market in the UAE and other Gulf countries. He pointed out that his country was one of the largest global milk producers while applauding the participation of numerous dairy product exporters in the Dubai exhibition.
“Our farmers, agro-based industrialists and businessmen are the backbone of our national economy who must focus on enhancing exports by targeting untapped markets,” be continued.
